Specialist Status

In 2008, Attleborough High School was re-designated as a Mathematics and Computing College.  Due to recent Government changes, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust have become 'The Schools Network' and will continue to communicate and celebrate leading practice and innovation.

The legacy of our specialism is that we have invested heavily through time and infrastructure in our Maths and particularly, our ICT facilities.  The ongoing aim is to raise standards of achievement and develop further interest of the specialist subjects across the whole ability range leading to whole school improvement.

Our Mathematics and ICT specialism has helped to develop the quality of teaching and learning in the specialist areas and has enabled us to develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning of the specialist subjects.  We have a mathematically rich curriculum that embraces all aspects of school life and share good practice across the curriculum, particularly through considered use of ICT.

We pride ourselves on being an active partner in a learning society which includes our local primary and secondary schools and wider community through our extended schools provision and Microsoft®Academy.  We have become a lead centre in sharing resources as well as developing and sharing good practice across the United Kingdom through our award winning Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).  Our VLE is admired regionally and nationally.  It allows students to access information and learning resources online and parents and carers have their own login to view information about the school and also the attendance, behaviour and assessment information for their child.

We also host the websites and VLEs for our main partner feeder schools.  This allows us to smooth the transition for students from primary school to secondary school through our Transition Portal where Year 6 students login to view all the required information on their new school.

In 2010, Attleborough High School became a Microsoft®Academy.  This accreditation has enabled the school to further use our specialist status to deliver highly sought after Microsoft Office®Application accredited courses to students and the wider community.
